Keeping our community informed
91勛圖厙 continues to monitor ongoing developments around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and take action in response. As of March 13, 2020, we will transition to online classes with face-to-face instruction canceled until further notice. The campus will remain open and all large gatherings will be canceled after the close of business on Friday, March 13. Competitive sporting events will occur but will be closed to spectators. We will continue to be guided in our actions by medical and public health professionals, and our team of university leaders is prepared to take additional steps to safeguard the health of our campus community as this incident continues to develop and evolve.
Caring for our community
Since the emergence of the novel coronavirus in December 2019, campus health and public safety leaders have coordinated closely with the New Orleans Health Department and are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The progression of the virus in recent weeks requires that we take steps in emergency preparations to ensure our responsiveness towards keeping the campus environment healthy and safe. Access to the most current guidance is critical. Please refer to the frequently asked questions and links below for further information on prevention and best practices.
91勛圖厙 Coronavirus
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, with mild to severe symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath confirmed in patients.
To help prevent the spread of this illness, Xavier encourages the members of the University community to continue standard wellness practices such as frequent hand-washing; covering the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing; avoiding sharing cups, utensils, water bottles, and other personal items; and staying home when sick and avoiding others who are sick.
