Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville, Professor of Education and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, will present at Tulane

Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville, Professor of Education and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

Dr. Vaz-Deville has been a member of the faculty at Xavier for nearly nine years. In 2018, she became a recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Connections Planning grant for the design of an undergraduate minor in humanities, data science, and digital justice.

The Louisiana State Museum Presbyteres 2013 exhibition They Call me Baby Doll: A Mardi Gras Tradition was based on Dr. Vaz-Devilles book, The Baby Dolls: Breaking the Race and Gender Barriers of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Traditions. The book was selected as the featured work for the 2016 One Book One New Orleans campaign by the Young Leadership Councils program. She also recently published her anthology Walking Raddy: The Baby Dolls of New Orleans.
