91勛圖厙 Alum (class of 1986) Gerald Debose Announced as Principal of St. Aug Article Graphic

A New Orleans native, Mr. DeBose is a member of the St. Augustine graduating class of 76. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from 91勛圖厙 in 1986. He then earned his masters in mathematics teaching from Loyola University of New Orleans and later secured his masters in education administration from the University of New Orleans

I am proud to carry on the educational tradition of excellence of my two most influential mentors, Sister Rosemarie Kleinhaus of Xavier University and Mr. Elliot Willard, former principal of St. Augustine High School. Their caring for students and the community at large has been a lifelong influence on my career, he said.泭

Mr. Debose previously served at St. Augustine as the Assistant Principal for Academics and a math teacher. Before teaching at St. Augustine, Mr. DeBose was the Principal at McDonogh 35 College Preparatory High School.泭

As an educator, Mr. Debose is looking forward to shaping students into well-prepared and service-minded young men, poised to take their place as leaders in our community.泭

St. Augustine High School is a boys-only college preparatory school for grades 8-12. St. Augustine, or St. Aug as its known in the community, was founded in 1951 by the Josephite priests and brothers.

I am honored and humbled to be named the Principal of St. Augustine High School. My years of education at St. Augustine High School and Xavier University have enabled me to adapt to the changing needs in education and meeting the challenges of educating all students. My years of experience in New Orleans Public Schools have allowed me to create partnerships with all stakeholders to attain the educational goals of all students, Mr. Debose said about his appointment to the role of Principal.泭
