IBCS Scholarship Form

Thanks to the generosity of benefactors, the Institute can offer a limited number of need-based scholarships for Summer 2024.

To apply for an IBCS scholarship: 

  1. Complete and submit the appropriate 2024 IBCS program application
  2. Complete and submit this 2024 Scholarship application
  3. Submit the supporting documentation listed below (via mail: IBCS Xavier University of LA 1 Drexel Drive New Orleans, LA 70125, email: ibcs@xula.edu, or in-person)

Scholarships Deadline Extended to April 30, 2024

To satisfy summer session tuition, fees, room & board for fulltime IBCS Degree and C&E students awardees. Fulltime consists of three weeks of Degree or Continuing Ed courses. Funds available for IBCS 2024 will support 4 Degree and 2 Continuing Education awards.

ELIGIBILITY:

1) Recipients shall be students of African American or African descent, enrolled full-time in the IBCS.

2) Degree students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

3) Demonstration of financial need will be a consideration.

TO APPLY:

• ENROLL and be accepted as a full-time student in the Degree or C&E Program

• USE this link to complete the Sr. Jamie T. Phelps, O.P., Ph.D. IBCS Endowed Scholarship application w/requested ID, employment and basic income data

• UPLOAD documentation to support the application:

– 500-700-word essay, prompt is provided;

– Copies of the applicant’s most recent W-2 income tax forms

– Three (3) letters of recommendation from parish/ school/community colleagues to verify applicant’s commitment to Black Catholic community and active involvement in evangelization or other ministry in church, parish or social justice setting – Degree Students must submit their latest transcript(s) of academic records, including the most recent IBCS transcript.

The deadline for submission of scholarship materials is March 18, 2024. Incomplete or late applications are not guaranteed consideration for a 2024 award.
