New Voices is the Xavier University student literary journal. It was founded by Patrice Melnick, Mark Whitaker and Randy Bates. Each year it is created in the Journal Practicum Creative Writing class.
CRWT 2141-01 is taken for 1 credit hr. and CRWT 2143-1 taken for 3-credit hrs. Students gain hands-on experience in publishing. The course is offered for credit on pass/fail basis and may be repeated. (Prerequisite: ENGL 1020 or equivalent) The students learn about publishing a journal by collecting submissions (literary and art), by editing essays, short stories, poems, plays, and reviews of literary works. They put together a journal, New Voices, of selected creative works by Xavier students and alumni.
The current advisor for New Voices is Dr. Biljana D. Obradovic (bobradov@xula.edu). Feel free to email her with any questions.
If you are a current student or a XU alumni you can submit work to New Voices anytime at: newvoice@xula.edu.
